The Men Wrestling emoji 🤼♂️ shows two men grappling in a wrestling match. It stands for wrestling as a sport, physical competition, rivalry, and playful roughhousing between guys. People use it for wrestling meets, combat sports news, and friendly clashes where two sides go head to head.
What Does the Men Wrestling Emoji Mean?
The Men Wrestling emoji means wrestling between two men, whether that is a literal match or a figurative contest of strength and wits.
The image depicts two male figures locked in a grappling stance, which makes it the most direct emoji for amateur and professional wrestling. It sits in the People & Body category, alongside other sport and activity emojis, and it belongs to the Unicode family of wrestling figures that also includes a gender-neutral version and a women's version.
Beyond sport, the emoji carries a sense of close physical contest. Two people pushing against each other, neither giving ground, is the core idea. That is why it also shows up in conversations about rivalries, tug-of-war situations, and friendly scuffles.

What Technical Details Define the Men Wrestling Emoji?
The Men Wrestling emoji is a sequence of four Unicode codepoints: U+1F93C, U+200D, U+2642, and U+FE0F.
The base character U+1F93C is WRESTLERS, which was added in Unicode 9.0. The zero width joiner (U+200D) links it to the male sign (U+2642), and the variation selector (U+FE0F) requests the colorful emoji presentation. Together they create a gendered variant, officially named MEN WRESTLING, which became part of Emoji 4.0.
The shortcode is :men_wrestling:, which works on chat platforms that support colon-style emoji entry. The emoji also supports skin tone modifiers on some systems, though the way two figures are tinted can differ between vendors.
Because it is a joined sequence rather than a single codepoint, older devices that do not recognize the sequence may show the base wrestlers emoji followed by a separate male sign. That fallback looks like two symbols side by side instead of one picture.
How Do You Use the Men Wrestling Emoji?
You use the Men Wrestling emoji whenever a message is about wrestling, a head-to-head contest, or two guys going at it in a physical or playful way.
It works best when the context is clear. A caption about a wrestling tournament needs no explanation. A message about two coworkers competing for the same promotion benefits from a bit of humor so the tone lands correctly.

Friends use it to describe a mock fight, a sibling scuffle, or a debate that is getting heated but remains friendly.

What Does 🤼♂️ Mean in Texting and on Social Media?
In texting and on social media, 🤼♂️ usually signals competition, rivalry, or a wrestling reference, and its tone depends heavily on the surrounding words.
On sports accounts it is straightforward: it flags wrestling content. In casual group chats it often becomes a joke about two people fighting for the same thing, such as a seat, a remote control, or a deal. Fans of professional wrestling also use it when discussing matches, storylines, and event nights.
Occasionally the emoji is used as a cheeky suggestion about two men in close physical contact. That reading is a joke or innuendo and depends entirely on context, so it is worth knowing it exists even if you never intend it.
How Does the Men Wrestling Emoji Look on Different Platforms?
The Men Wrestling emoji looks slightly different on each platform, but every version shows two male figures in a grappling pose.
Support is broad across modern systems. Apple supports it on iOS 10.2 and later and macOS 10.12.2 and later. Google supports it on Android 7.1 and later. Microsoft supports it on Windows 10 Anniversary Update and later, Samsung supports it from One UI 1.0, WhatsApp from version 2.17.10, and Twitter through Twemoji 2.3 and later.
- Apple: detailed, shaded figures in athletic gear
- Google: simpler, flatter figures with clear outlines
- Microsoft: stylized figures with bold shapes
- Samsung: rounded, expressive figures
- Twitter (Twemoji): flat, graphic style
Because designs vary, the same message can feel more serious on one device and more cartoonish on another. If your tone matters, a few words of context keep the meaning intact.
Which Emojis Pair Well With 🤼♂️?
The best pairings for 🤼♂️ are other sports, strength, and victory emojis that reinforce a competitive theme.
- 🏆 or 🥇 for wins and championships

If you are writing about different sports in one post, you can mix in outdoor or winter athletes such as the Skier emoji or the Snowboarder emoji. For a calmer sporting mood, the Man Golfing emoji offers a clear contrast to the intensity of wrestling.
Browsing the full People & Body emoji category is a good way to find more athletes, gestures, and activity emojis that fit your message.
When Should You Avoid the Men Wrestling Emoji?
Avoid the Men Wrestling emoji when the context could make it read as mockery, innuendo, or a real threat.
In professional settings, keep it to sports-related messages. A joke about colleagues wrestling over a project may be fine among friends but can come across as unprofessional or aggressive in a formal channel.
Be careful in sensitive conversations about violence or conflict. A symbol of physical struggle can feel flippant when someone is describing a genuine confrontation.
Also consider whether the emoji matches the people you are describing. If your subject is not specifically two men, the gender-neutral wrestlers emoji or the women's version may fit better and avoid confusion.
