The People Wrestling: Medium-dark Skin Tone, Medium Skin Tone emoji shows two figures locked together in a wrestling grip, representing athletic competition, physical struggle, or playful conflict. This variation combines a medium-dark skin tone and a medium skin tone, giving users a more diverse and personalized way to express the wrestling gesture between two people, whether discussing an actual sporting match or using it metaphorically for rivalry.
Being a newly formed ZWJ sequence, its visual design depends on the rendering platform. Apple has begun supporting it in iOS 26.4+ and macOS 26.4+, while Google, Microsoft, and Samsung support remains unconfirmed. As adoption spreads, expect differences in body posture, color rendering, and overall art style, much like other multi-skin-tone emoji sequences already in use.
This emoji is well suited for sports-related posts on Twitter/X and Instagram, especially content tied to wrestling competitions, gym culture, or playful challenges between friends. TikTok creators may use it to tag training clips or funny wrestling-themed videos, while WhatsApp and Discord conversations might feature it during banter about gaming rivalries or literal wrestling discussions.
Its Unicode codepoint sequence is U+1F9D1 U+1F3FE U+200D U+1FAEF U+200D U+1F9D1 U+1F3FD, introduced in Unicode 17.0 and Emoji Version 17.0. It belongs to the expanding People Wrestling emoji family, sitting alongside other skin tone combinations and related to combat-themed emojis like 🤼 and other martial arts icons.
This emoji fits well in sports commentary, playful rivalry, or inclusive storytelling involving two people of different skin tones. It's best avoided in formal or unrelated contexts where physical competition themes don't apply. Since platform support is still developing, test its appearance before using it professionally.
