The People Wrestling: Light Skin Tone, Medium-dark Skin Tone emoji illustrates two figures engaged in a wrestling grapple, representing athletic contests, combat sports, and playful or intense rivalry. This ZWJ sequence pairs two person emojis with contrasting skin tone modifiers, portraying one light-skinned and one medium-dark-skinned wrestler locked together. It's a visually dynamic way to express competition and physical struggle between two distinct individuals.
As part of Emoji Version 17.0, this emoji is newly released and platform support is still rolling out. Apple confirms compatibility beginning with iOS 26.4 and macOS 26.4, rendering the wrestlers with visible skin tone differences. Google, Microsoft, and Samsung have not yet announced their versions, so this emoji may display as unsupported boxes or fallback glyphs on non-Apple devices for now.
Once broader adoption occurs, expect this emoji to surface in sports-related conversations across Twitter/X, Discord servers dedicated to gaming or fitness, and Instagram or TikTok posts about wrestling matches, martial arts, or competitive challenges. WhatsApp users might use it to jokingly depict disagreements or playful physical competition between friends with different skin tones represented accurately.
Its full codepoint sequence reads U+1F9D1 U+1F3FB ZWJ U+1FAEF ZWJ U+1F9D1 U+1F3FE, joining a light skin tone person, the wrestling symbol, and a medium-dark skin tone person. This emoji sits within the broader wrestling emoji set and directly relates to the base 🤼 People Wrestling emoji, which offers no skin tone specification.
Reach for this emoji when representing wrestling scenarios with intentional skin tone diversity, such as depicting real matches or diverse friend groups. It's less suited for formal or professional messaging. As with all emojis, you can copy and paste it directly from CopyThatEmoji.com.
