The People Wrestling: Dark Skin Tone, Medium Skin Tone emoji illustrates two figures grappling in a wrestling stance, representing combat sports, athletic rivalry, or a spirited physical contest. This ZWJ sequence combines a person with a dark skin tone and another with a medium skin tone, allowing for a more personalized and inclusive depiction of two people engaged in wrestling. It communicates energy, competition, and strength, appealing to sports fans, athletes, and anyone wanting to reflect specific skin tones in their messaging.
Being part of the newly introduced Unicode 17.0 set, this emoji's design is currently limited in availability. Apple supports it from iOS 26.4 and macOS 26.4 onward, displaying two wrestlers with clear, distinct skin tones locked in action. Google, Microsoft, and Samsung have not yet finalized their versions, so users on those platforms may see a fallback icon or no rendering at all until official updates roll out.
Once fully supported, expect this emoji to show up in wrestling commentary, gaming rivalries, and inclusive representation posts across Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, and Discord. It gives users a way to depict two specific people or characters with different skin tones interacting physically, whether in sports discussions, playful banter, or storytelling that calls for accurate and diverse representation.
Technically, the emoji is constructed from U+1F9D1 U+1F3FF U+200D U+1FAEF U+200D U+1F9D1 U+1F3FD, joining a person with dark skin tone modifier, the wrestling component, a zero-width joiner, and a second person with medium skin tone modifier. It belongs to the growing People Wrestling family of emoji combinations, complementing related combat sports emojis and other skin-tone-paired gesture sequences.
Reach for this emoji when talking about wrestling matches, combat sports, or playful physical competition, but steer clear of it in formal settings where its aggressive imagery might be misinterpreted. Since platform support is still expanding, verify how it appears on your device beforehand. Visit CopyThatEmoji.com to quickly copy and paste this emoji for your posts and messages.
